Amy Armitage – Psychotherapist, Counsellor & EMDR Practitioner – Lymm
As a therapist, my aim is to provide a safe, non-judgmental, and supportive environment where kindness and respect form the foundation of our work together. I strive to build a genuine and collaborative relationship with my clients, ensuring they feel secure enough to fully engage in the therapeutic process.
Through my own experience with counselling, I understand how transformative and empowering therapy can be. Working with a compassionate and understanding therapist helped me gain clarity and make life-changing decisions. While the process wasn’t always easy, it gave me the insight and tools I continue to rely on today.
Qualifications and Approach
I am a fully qualified therapist, an EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing) practitioner, and a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). As a member of the BACP, I adhere to its ethical framework, ensuring my clients receive the highest standard of care.
My training includes Compassion Focused Therapy, Person-Centred Counselling, and EMDR Therapy. These approaches allow me to adapt my practice to the unique needs of each individual. EMDR Therapy is especially effective in addressing trauma and distressing memories, helping clients process and heal in a structured and supportive way.
