What is counselling?
Mostly, we all have the potential to be our own healers and solvers of problems, we all just sometimes need to talk our problems through with another person, who won’t add their perspective or have an emotional involvement, but will truly listen.
As a counsellor, I know that every client is unique, and that no two encounters with clients will be the same, even if there may be similar issues. Some clients may have a sense of embarrassment at ‘having to see a counsellor’, yet as I see it, there are times in most people’s lives when we need to talk through our problems, safe in the knowledge that what we have discussed will remain confidential.
Counselling seems today to be an integral part of our lives, and therapy can be seen as a positive move towards self-care, self-awareness and healing.
As a person centred counsellor, my role is to offer empathy, understanding, patience, and to be non judgemental.
