Hello there, my name is Tanya.
I am one of the counsellors working at LIBERTAS.
I believe there is an array of reasons that people come to therapy, but mostly we wish for the same outcome, change…For me, I was so lost and far away from whom I wanted to be and I was unable to make sense of that on my own. I made the decision to have therapy and it changed my life… Having spent much of my life searching for my place in this world it’s only when I started to train as a Counselling Therapist that I knew I had truly found my path.
I believe that being heard, truly heard, is one of the most powerful experiences we can encounter.
I am a qualified Person-Centred Counsellor; I am registered with the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). This means that I work within their ethical and professional framework, ensuring that you the client receive best practice at all times: www.bacp.co.uk. I have ongoing supervision and I am always growing by way of continual professional and personal development, my learning never stops.
My role is to provide you with a safe, compassionate space in which you can explore whatever your needs are, at your pace and in your time. I do this with unconditional respect, honesty, by being genuine and empathic and without judgement. This is your space.
I believe wholly in the Person-centred approach. Provided with certain conditions a person may be able to discover for themselves who they really are and find their own answers. You know best your experiences, your feelings and your needs.
I have worked in various settings, including a community based women’s charity in St Helens, a recovery centre and a rehabilitation facility.
I have a detailed understanding and much experience working with adoption, self-harm and addictive patterns and behaviours.
I am experienced in, but not limited to, working with the following:
Adoption, Bereavement, grief and loss, Abuse, Anxiety, Stress, Depression, Long term and or terminal illness, Addiction, Alcoholism, Domestic abuse, Self-harm, Disability, Caring for others living with disability, Suicidal thoughts, Family issues, Relationship problems, Anger management.
